ICC Canada

The International Chamber of Commerce supports businesses in setting global standards and influencing policy affecting the private sector at bodies such as the United Nations and the World Trade Organization.

ICC Policy and Standard-setting Work

The International Chamber of Commerce is the world’s largest business organization. Through a unique mix of advocacy, solutions and standard setting, it promotes international trade, responsible business conduct and a global approach to regulation.

The ICC has observer status at the United Nations and the World Trade Organization, which enables it to advance objectives, on behalf of its members, directly to decision-makers. The ICC also has a long history of formulating the voluntary rules by which business is conducted every day – from internationally recognized Incoterms® rules to the UCP 600 Uniform Customs and Practice for Documentary Credit that are widely used in international finance.

We operate as “ICC Canada,” Canada’s National Committee of the ICC. As ICC Canada, we provide a platform for Canadian businesses to become involved in the ICC’s policy commissions and the work of its Knowledge Solutions Department, which is responsible for the ICC’s policy and rule-making activities across a range of areas, including financial services, environment, international trade, customs and trade facilitation, intellectual property, digital economy, and many more.

Involvement in these activities provides Canadian businesses with access to leading insights from decision-makers and the global business community as well as the opportunity to play an early role in shaping the policy and rules that will affect them.

ICC World Chambers Federation

The International Chamber of Commerce’s World Chambers Federation is the backbone of the global chamber network leading, connecting and inspiring chambers to benefit real economies and communities, every day, everywhere.

The WCF is the forum that connects chambers across borders, creating a better environment for business and driving prosperity and opportunity for all.

WCF is ICC’s unique and truly global forum connecting, leading and inspiring the global network of chambers and their respective business communities. As well as strengthening links among chambers, WCF also helps individual chambers become more productive.

Membership in the WCF

Chambers of commerce and boards of trade that are members of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce (operating as ICC Canada) are considered members of the WCF. If your chamber or board of trade isn’t already a member of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce, please click here or connect with Daniel Caramori to learn more about membership.
